Chapter 9 of Sketching Interiors discusses the importance of freehand sketching for presentations, focusing on common drawings for interior designers like floor plans, elevations, isometric drawings, and perspectives. These drawings are typically created using markers, ink, and colored pencils. Adding entourage, such as plants, cars, or people, helps create scale, dimension, and a realistic feel. The book provides detailed instructions on drawing various types of plants, human figures, and cars, as well as their placement near entrances and other important locations. Floor plans, which show room layouts and furnishings, can become three-dimensional with a wash-like effect. The book also discusses the significance of section, perspective, and isometric views in drawing interiors. This week we also talked about our container project and the precedent studies. In class this week, we spoke on contrast and focus. The deliberate creation of a focal point is called emphasis. In addition to establishing hierarchy, it adds character, balance, and drama. It also influences how an observer feels or sees a room, and it may be influenced by architectural features, furniture, lighting, textures, and views.   When two or more opposing components or qualities are present in an area, contrast results. Cohesion is vital, but it also has a tendency to blur everything together and make the room seem boring. Contrast creates equilibrium by utilizing many components. Color, form, texture, substance, or style can all be used to produce it. When employed properly, contrast may produce harmony and visual intrigue.
